Discrepancy and numerical integration on metric measure spaces

چکیده
We study here the error of numerical integration on metric measure spaces adapted to a decomposition of the space into disjoint subsets. We consider both the error for a single given function, and the worst case error for all functions in a given class of potentials. The main tools are the classical Marcinkiewicz– Zygmund inequality and ad hoc definitions of function spaces on metric measure spaces. The same techinques are used to prove the existence of point distributions in metric measure spaces with small L discrepancy with respect to certain classes of subsets, for example metric balls.

Weighted geometric discrepancies and numerical integration on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces
We extend the notion of L2-B-discrepancy introduced in [E. Novak, H. Woźniakowski, L2 discrepancy and multivariate integration, in: Analytic number theory. Essays in honour of Klaus Roth. W. W. L. Chen, W. T. Gowers, H. Halberstam, W. M. Schmidt, and R. C. Vaughan (Eds.), Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 2009, 359 – 388] to what we want to call weighted geometric L2-discrepancy. This exte...

متن کاملOn new faster fixed point iterative schemes for contraction operators and comparison of their rate of convergence in convex metric spaces
In this paper we present new iterative algorithms in convex metric spaces. We show that these iterative schemes are convergent to the fixed point of a single-valued contraction operator. Then we make the comparison of their rate of convergence. Additionally, numerical examples for these iteration processes are given.

The star discrepancy is a measure of how uniformly distributed a finite point set is in the d-dimensional unit cube. It is related to high-dimensional numerical integration of certain function classes as expressed by the Koksma-Hlawka inequality. A sharp version of this inequality states that the worst-case error of approximating the integral of functions from the unit ball of some Sobolev spac...
